Affliated Subject Tutors

I am affliated with a group of high calibre tutors who are all highly qualified A-level teachers with many years of subject and online teaching/tutoring expertise. All of us are part of this tutor group and whilst we each have our own independent tutoring businesses, we agree to a set of common quality standards.

Here are the Tutor Group’s common quality standards:

Teachers – each tutor either has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), PGCE and/or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Member of The Tutors’ Association: the voluntary, not-for-profit professional body that represents the tutoring sector, with a commitment to continuous personal development
Enhanced DBS check and on the Update Service
Safeguarding training
Free-of-charge and without obligation initial student and parent/carer engagement.
Student Plan to focus on the knowledge, skills and exam technique required to help the student achieve their desired objective
Minimum number of lessons – a minimum of four hours of tutoring (subject to individual tutor practice)
Recording of online sessions, subject to client consent, and retaining the recording for a minimum period of time for the student to access, subject to individual tutor’s policies
24 hours’ notice of cancellation or the lesson is fully chargeable, subject to the individual tutor’s practices, terms and conditions
Provide a short progress report to student and parents

Rita Farrell, BSc (Hons), PGCE, QTLS.

Rita is a dedicated GCSE and A-level maths tutor. With over 20 years of teaching experience and several years of examiner experience, Rita brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her tutoring sessions.

Louise Burden BSc (Hons), PGCE, QTS

Louise is a biology specialist with over 20 years of classroom experience in both comprehensive and selective grammar schools. She is an experienced examiner. Since 2018, Louise has been running a full-time tuition business, providing online A-level biology tuition to students worldwide , inspiring curiosity in her students while preparing them thoroughly for their examinations.

Dr Victoria Philpotts, BA (Double Hons), MA, PhD, PGCE

Victoria has over 25 years of teaching experience and teaches modern foreign languages (German, French and Spanish) and English (language and literature) at GCSE, as well as German and French at A level. She has taught in secondary schools and universities, and now runs her own tuition business.

Steven Smith BSc (Hons), MSc, PGCE, NPQML, QTS

Steve is a former Industrial Scientist with 15 years of classroom experience in a wide variety of Secondary School and Sixth Form settings, specialising in GCSE and A Level Chemistry. As a Sixth Form Head of Year for many years he facilitated successful UCAS applications. He is an experienced A Level Chemistry examiner and has been providing private tuition online via his business on a full-time basis since 2019.

Lynn Harkin, BSc (Hons), PGCE

Lynn has over 25 years of teaching experience in the classroom, 12 of which were as a Head of Humanities. She has a strong track record of successfully teaching GCSE and A Level History. She runs her own tuition business and is committed to providing tailor-made tuition to meet the needs of her students.

Sarah Borthwick BA (Hons), LLB (Hons), PGCE, QTS.

Sarah specialises in A Level and GCSE Law, Politics and Philosophy including Religious Studies with over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Sarah has held Senior Leadership positions including Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Principal. She is an experienced examiner for a variety of subject areas at A Level and GCSE and runs her own successful tutoring business.

Angela Taylor BSc (Hons), PGCE, QTS

Angela specialises in A Level and GCSE Psychology and Sociology with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Angela has held Senior Leadership positions including Deputy Headteacher. She also adds international teaching to her repertoire, where she taught in the UAE.
She is an experienced examiner for A Level and International Baccalaureate and runs her own successful tutoring business.

Dave Caddies, BSc (Hons), MBA, PGCE & Professional Banking Qualifications

Dave is a passionate and highly experienced A-level economics and business online tutor and typically tutors 35 plus A-level students each year. Dave has ten year’s school and university teaching experience, is a current senior A Level examiner and also brings a wealth of banking and business expertise, all to support his students.

Peter Agnew BSc (Hons), PGCE

Peter is an experienced A level, GCSE and Key Stage 3 geography tutor and teacher with over 15 years of experience in education. Having been an Examiner for AQA and Edexcel, Peter provides insights that help students excel in assessments, giving them a distinct advantage. His expertise spans all education levels from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 across various curriculums, including AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge, WJEC, and ISEB exams. Jane is an English specialist, with more than 15 years of classroom teaching experience and a background in national journalism, editing, copywriting and PR. She has an MA in Creative Writing and Publishing and now runs a successful online tutoring business for both A Level and GCSE students. She offers tuition for A Level students in English Literature, English Language and Lang/Lit across most exam boards.
